Mike Boyd and Lee had helped collect money at Yamaha of Harrison’s 4 wheel rodeo. They had a pretty good turn out before it started to storm. Lee wasn’t sure if they had to cancel or not.

A couple of meetings ago, Lee mentioned that Kathy Boone from Festus, Missouri Chapter 437 would be riding down the Sunday before Star Days and wanted to meet with our chapter. Cathy has informed Lee that they will be staying at The Hub and would like for us to meet them at The Hub for dinner. If anyone will be riding to Star Days on Monday morning, Chapter 437 would like to join them. Lee will get more information as it gets closer for anyone that would like to join them for dinner. Chapter 437 president, Lee “Rough Rider” Lash has also contacted Lee and they are looking forward to meeting us.

Larry McBride gave a report on the May 17th ride to Highway 123 and the Pig Trail. It was a bit nippy that morning but turned out to be a great day. With 14 members and 1 guest attending. Alex brought the meeting to order at 7:21 p.m. welcoming our guest Craig.

Denise read the minutes from our April meeting and Hal gave he treasurer’s report in Cathy’s absence. Motion was made to accept and seconded for both the minutes and treasurers report.

Covering past rides:

Landus reported on the evening ride to The Bearded Clam in Kimberling City, MO where Mike Boyd, Mike and Bobbie Reddell along with Landus and Denise met at Bill Woods Chevrolet then rode through Green Forest on our way to the Bearded Clam. After dinner we rode back taking Hwy 13 to Hwy 86 and Hwy 65 into Harrison.

Jim reported on the Mill Ride into Missouri where Alex, Vicki, Landus and Denise met him at the Exxon station in Gassville. Out of Gassville they took Hwy 5 into Missouri then a little past Greenville turned off onto Hwy PP and stopped at the first mill. After stopping at several mills we had lunch at Rockbridge with a drink afterwards before outrunning the storms on the way home. Luckily sprinkles were all that we got.

Dennis was next with comments on the ride to StarBBQ in TX. Before they got started Dennis and Nancy had to ride at 46* to Big Cedar to get his gloves. During their ride to TX they first hit sprinkles in Huntsville then wind in Oklahoma then rain again then wind etc…. a full-face helmet would have been nice. After arriving they somehow got pictures of Vicki and other guests doing “The Worm”. The next morning they rode all over and visited Iron Choppers. Poor Dennis, Nancy wouldn’t buy him the bike he wanted. The ride back it was BEAUTIFUL with no rain and many stops along they way, although they “just” beat the rain by minutes as they got home.

Jim let us know that he broke down on the way home after our April meeting and the Reddell’s daughter stopped to help him. She called Bobbie, and said she was picking up a hitchhiker with a Star vest. Mike brought a trailer and picked up Jim and bike taking them to Hal’s.

Hal reported that the Yamaha poker run was ready to go. All the stops are covered. The membership committee also was ready to go at the Yamaha Celebration.

At this time Matt Grandal and his father Lester joined us and were welcomed.

We touched base on our “Ride for Sarah” and attempted to fill the positions for stops to be worked.

Matt and Landus updated everyone on the banner that should be ready in time for the Yamaha Celebration. Upon seeing a printed copy we all applauded Matt for doing a great job.

Mike Boyd won our 50/50 drawing and donated $29.00 back to the club. THANKS EARL!

We had a couple of advertisements being Mike Boyd’s birthday on April 27 and David Conner’s birthday on May 10. Happy Birthday!!

At this time we had a presentation of a Star vest by Mike Beard to our chapter mascot Patrick Conner. Patrick’s speech was…. Uh…… thanks.

We voted to spend appximately $40.00 to print the maps and stiff for both poker runs with vote passing.

For new business…

Suggestion was made to treat ourselves to a dinner with chapter funds, everyone to think about it and we’ll take a vote at our June meeting.

We had received an e-mail from National requesting the LOS to organize donations for the next “Feed the Children” auction.

A few future rides were mentioned and decided our next meeting to be at Dennis’ on June 9th at 7:00 for BBQ.

Jim had checked on the VA ride to Fayetteville and July 2nd would be no problem.

Motion was made to adjourn and seconded with meeting being adjourned at 8:20 p.m.

April 14, 2006

We had 17 members and 6 guests attending, Alex brought the meeting to order.

Alex introduced our guests Matt Grandon, Joe and Missy Teed, Dillon and David Cardoza and Adam from Yamaha of Harrison.

Since our secretary and treasurer were both missing at the beginning of the meeting, Hal gave a report on the trial ride for our upcoming poker run for Yamaha’s 30 year celebration to be held on May 20th and Adam had an update on the schedule for the event. Volunteers were requested to work the stops along the way with all stops being filled. Landus will work on maps for the chosen route.

“Ride for Sarah” will be the weekend after the Yamaha Celebration where we will be having a mystery poker run.

During our banner design meeting, we came up with a proto-type that will be 4’X 6’. Landus will check into pricing for the banner.

We touched base on our banner photo ride where everyone got to see Vicki riding backwards taking pictures. Dennis commented that it was “hot and windy with plenty of curves”. Landus took a wrong turn and we ended up in Ozone instead of Ozark as planned so we checked out Wolf Pen campgrounds on the Mulberry River for possible “tenting’.

On a trip to The Eureka Springs Bike Show, Cathy purchased a trailer to pull behind the bike.

Future rides will be the Mill Run for Sunday, April 23. With the dinner ride to the Bearded Clam in Kimberling City, MO being changed to Friday, April 22. Some will be leaving from Yamaha at 7:00 am on April 28 for the Texas StarBQ. After that will be the Spring River Rally on May 13.

On new business, Adam provided a list of people that had purchased new bikes that Alex would contact and see if they would be interested in our Chapter.

Our guest Joe announced Alex and Vicki as becoming our new Area Coordinators.

Adam informed everyone that that our Star Chapter would receive 10% off parts and accessories from Yamaha of Harrison.

Finally….

We have a few t-shirts left over from our Biker Budz Boogie; Hal motioned that we pass them out at the VA Hospital on our visit in July. Motion was seconded, voted on and passed.

Landus gave a report on his attending a meeting of the Convention and Visitors Bureau for the City of Harrison regarding car and bike rally to be held the second weekend in September.

As a group we felt it would be better at this time to attend as paying customers instead of our chapter participating in the event. Motion was made, voted on and passed.

Alex presented a thank you card we had received from Sarah Scutt for our check and support with helping her and her family. We will be helping with the mystery poker run “Ride for Sarah” on Saturday, May 27th. A committee of Vicki, Teresa, Alex and Denise was formed to work out the details with Christian and Phi Theta Kappa.

We also formed a committee of Cathy, Hal and Gray for the poker run to be held for Yamaha of Harrison’s 30-year celebration on Saturday, May 20th along with another committee of Mike and Bobbie Reddell and Vicki for the booth our chapter will have at the celebration.

Vicki came with several ideas for our chapter banner but as no one else brought their ideas another, another meeting was planned in one week at Hal and Cathy’s. Also as the ride committee had been unable to meet, they would work on ideas at Hal and Cathy’s the same night of banner planning.

Denise had been working on upcoming events for our website. If anyone knows of events to be added please contact her.

Bobbie informed everyone attending that one of their patients said his wife had picked up someone at the National Guard Armory talking about a bike club that had really helped with the results of the “Give a Soldier Wings” chili supper and pie auction. Turns out the "bike club" she was talking about was Star Chapter 298.

Mike Beard won our 50/50 drawing. He kept his original $5.00 contribution and donated the rest back to the club.

February 10, 2006

Star Chapter 298’s February meeting was held at the home of
Vicki and Alex Billings where they made Taco Soup along with
both Deer and Elk chili.

After a little bit of “squeezing” the meeting was called to order at
7.53 p.m. Alex introduced Eli from Yamaha of Harrison and
thanked everyone for coming. We had 16 members and 2 guests
attending.

After a little more squeezing for the hostess, Denise read the
minutes from our January meeting and Cathy gave the treasurers
report.

Cathy had talked with Bob regarding t-shirts and was advised he
didn’t think there was any money and the t-shirts had been packed
away. Motion was made to pick up t-shirts to be used at a later
time for possible donations. Motion was seconded

Eli listed several possible dates for Yamaha’s 30-year celebration.
Of the dates listed, our chapter picked May 20th. Several ideas for
the celebration were discussed. We voted on Chapter 298 being
responsible for the poker run and a membership booth. We can
also be available to help in other areas if needed.

our members received new nicknames “Pigpen and Pigpenette”

events and anything chapter related.

each month for riders from all over to get together.

Christian Dukes asked Alex if our chapter would be interested in
helping with a charity for a local high school student named Sarah
who has acute lymphocytic leukemia. We will possibly hold
another poker run to help but with Sarah needing immediate help,
we voted to donate $500.00 from our chapter funds now. We will
also contact other clubs to see if they are willing to do the same.

Bob Richards asked if we would be interested in helping with a
rally the second weekend in September to be organized by the
Harrison Convention and Visitors Bureau. Our chapter decided to
send Landus to the CVB’s next meeting to get more information
and report back to the chapter.

Bob also advised of an auction fundraiser for Roy Arnold and his
family as they recently lost everything when their home was
destroyed by fire.

Alex provided information on upcoming rallies in the area.

At this time, Hal noticed that he was a "Foxy Bitch" from a new
patch he found on his vest.

With the weather warming up and more rallies’ being posted, the
ride committee will meet and have some rides and rallies ready for
the chapter to vote on.

Wanting to make a visit to the VA Hospital again around the Forth
of July. We voted to go on Sunday, July 2 with Jim Barnes as
organizer.

ate, Nancy won money and they went home. Pies were served
