They went to three outstanding concerts. There were lots of activities and things to do. Hal got some new shoes and Cathy a new t-shirt. It was loads and loads and loads of fun. At one point their bed was funky made with Hal asking, “what the hell did you do with the bed”. They had beautiful weather and went on a wonderful poker run. People were sitting out everywhere watching the bikes go by.

September 23rd was our appreciation dinner and Alex thanked everyone for a great turnout along with the WONDERFUL dinner with Hal cooking for us all.

Denise recapped the September 30th ride to Bikes Blues and BBQ. Denise and Landus had hauled ass the night before to Springdale to get their room then meet Landus’ family for dinner. On Saturday morning, along with Billy we rode back to Marble to join the rest of the group. Leaving Marble we rode to Dickson Street and roamed around a bit before heading to the Razorback Theater to meet with Chapter 250 from Fayetteville and Chapter 382 from Greers Ferry Lake. We had another group from Columbus, Kansas stopped at the Theater and joined us for a group picture. From there we split up with some heading back to Dickson Street and some heading to the Tyson Track Center. Those still in Fayetteville met again at Dickson Street before going our separate ways. It was a BLAST!!

Mary recapped our October 7th - 8th ride to the Talimena Scenic Byway. We met at the lookout on Gaither mountain where it was 45* starting off. Everyone had on chaps, jackets, gloves and everything to stay warm. Went through Ponca to Highway 23 and the Pig Trail stopping for gas in Ozark before taking a detour to Mt. Magazine. We arrived in Mena at 4:30 p.m. where Ginger (Charles and Mary’s daughter-in-law) joined us for dinner. The motels in Mena were full of other bikers with many of them being from Dallas. Sunday morning Landus had a dead battery so he rode Denise’ bike to Wal-Mart with all it’s pink. On his way back from Wal-Mart, a block away from the motel he was joined at a stop light by about 15 bikers. He thought about blowing them a kiss but was afraid to look at them. Landus got his bike started and we took off on the Talimena run which is about 50 miles across the top of the mountain. We stopped for breakfast at the Queen Wihelmina State Park Lodge. The views were awesome and we had perfect weather. Riding back we detoured again to Mt. Nebo before grabbing a bite to eat and heading up Highway 7 towards home.

Denise read the minutes from our April meeting and Hal gave he treasurer’s report in Cathy’s absence. Motion was made to accept and seconded for both the minutes and treasurers report.

Covering past rides:

Landus reported on the evening ride to The Bearded Clam in Kimberling City, MO where Mike Boyd, Mike and Bobbie Reddell along with Landus and Denise met at Bill Woods Chevrolet then rode through Green Forest on our way to the Bearded Clam. After dinner we rode back taking Hwy 13 to Hwy 86 and Hwy 65 into Harrison.

Jim reported on the Mill Ride into Missouri where Alex, Vicki, Landus and Denise met him at the Exxon station in Gassville. Out of Gassville they took Hwy 5 into Missouri then a little past Greenville turned off onto Hwy PP and stopped at the first mill. After stopping at several mills we had lunch at Rockbridge with a drink afterwards before outrunning the storms on the way home. Luckily sprinkles were all that we got.

Dennis was next with comments on the ride to StarBBQ in TX. Before they got started Dennis and Nancy had to ride at 46* to Big Cedar to get his gloves. During their ride to TX they first hit sprinkles in Huntsville then wind in Oklahoma then rain again then wind etc…. a full-face helmet would have been nice. After arriving they somehow got pictures of Vicki and other guests doing “The Worm”. The next morning they rode all over and visited Iron Choppers. Poor Dennis, Nancy wouldn’t buy him the bike he wanted. The ride back it was BEAUTIFUL with no rain and many stops along they way, although they “just” beat the rain by minutes as they got home.

Jim let us know that he broke down on the way home after our April meeting and the Reddell’s daughter stopped to help him. She called Bobbie, and said she was picking up a hitchhiker with a Star vest. Mike brought a trailer and picked up Jim and bike taking them to Hal’s.

Hal reported that the Yamaha poker run was ready to go. All the stops are covered. The membership committee also was ready to go at the Yamaha Celebration.

At this time Matt Grandal and his father Lester joined us and were welcomed.

We touched base on our “Ride for Sarah” and attempted to fill the positions for stops to be worked.

Matt and Landus updated everyone on the banner that should be ready in time for the Yamaha Celebration. Upon seeing a printed copy we all applauded Matt for doing a great job.

Mike Boyd won our 50/50 drawing and donated $29.00 back to the club. THANKS EARL!

We had a couple of advertisements being Mike Boyd’s birthday on April 27 and David Conner’s birthday on May 10. Happy Birthday!!

At this time we had a presentation of a Star vest by Mike Beard to our chapter mascot Patrick Conner. Patrick’s speech was…. Uh…… thanks.

We voted to spend appximately $40.00 to print the maps and stiff for both poker runs with vote passing.

For new business…

Suggestion was made to treat ourselves to a dinner with chapter funds, everyone to think about it and we’ll take a vote at our June meeting.

We had received an e-mail from National requesting the LOS to organize donations for the next “Feed the Children” auction.

A few future rides were mentioned and decided our next meeting to be at Dennis’ on June 9th at 7:00 for BBQ.

Jim had checked on the VA ride to Fayetteville and July 2nd would be no problem.

Motion was made to adjourn and seconded with meeting being adjourned at 8:20 p.m.

Volunteers were requested to work the stops along the way with all stops being filled. Landus will work on maps for the chosen route.

“Ride for Sarah” will be the weekend after the Yamaha Celebration where we will be having a mystery poker run.

During our banner design meeting, we came up with a proto-type that will be 4’X 6’. Landus will check into pricing for the banner.

We touched base on our banner photo ride where everyone got to see Vicki riding backwards taking pictures. Dennis commented that it was “hot and windy with plenty of curves”. Landus took a wrong turn and we ended up in Ozone instead of Ozark as planned so we checked out Wolf Pen campgrounds on the Mulberry River for possible “tenting’.

On a trip to The Eureka Springs Bike Show, Cathy purchased a trailer to pull behind the bike.

Future rides will be the Mill Run for Sunday, April 23. With the dinner ride to the Bearded Clam in Kimberling City, MO being changed to Friday, April 22. Some will be leaving from Yamaha at 7:00 am on April 28 for the Texas StarBQ. After that will be the Spring River Rally on May 13.

On new business, Adam provided a list of people that had purchased new bikes that Alex would contact and see if they would be interested in our Chapter.

Our guest Joe announced Alex and Vicki as becoming our new Area Coordinators.

Adam informed everyone that that our Star Chapter would receive 10% off parts and accessories from Yamaha of Harrison.

Landus gave a report on his attending a meeting of the Convention and Visitors Bureau for the City of Harrison regarding car and bike rally to be held the second weekend in September.

As a group we felt it would be better at this time to attend as paying customers instead of our chapter participating in the event. Motion was made, voted on and passed.

Alex presented a thank you card we had received from Sarah Scutt for our check and support with helping her and her family. We will be helping with the mystery poker run “Ride for Sarah” on Saturday, May 27th. A committee of Vicki, Teresa, Alex and Denise was formed to work out the details with Christian and Phi Theta Kappa.

We also formed a committee of Cathy, Hal and Gray for the poker run to be held for Yamaha of Harrison’s 30-year celebration on Saturday, May 20th along with another committee of Mike and Bobbie Reddell and Vicki for the booth our chapter will have at the celebration.

Vicki came with several ideas for our chapter banner but as no one else brought their ideas another, another meeting was planned in one week at Hal and Cathy’s. Also as the ride committee had been unable to meet, they would work on ideas at Hal and Cathy’s the same night of banner planning.

Denise had been working on upcoming events for our website. If anyone knows of events to be added please contact her.

Bobbie informed everyone attending that one of their patients said his wife had picked up someone at the National Guard Armory talking about a bike club that had really helped with the results of the “Give a Soldier Wings” chili supper and pie auction. Turns out the "bike club" she was talking about was Star Chapter 298.

helping with a charity for a local high school student named Sarah
who has acute lymphocytic leukemia. We will possibly hold
another poker run to help but with Sarah needing immediate help,
we voted to donate $500.00 from our chapter funds now. We will
also contact other clubs to see if they are willing to do the same.

Bob Richards asked if we would be interested in helping with a
rally the second weekend in September to be organized by the
Harrison Convention and Visitors Bureau. Our chapter decided to
send Landus to the CVB’s next meeting to get more information
and report back to the chapter.

Bob also advised of an auction fundraiser for Roy Arnold and his
family as they recently lost everything when their home was
destroyed by fire.

Alex provided information on upcoming rallies in the area.

year we need to renew our charter by December 1. Mike Beard motioned
that we go ahead and renew the charter. This was 2nd, voted on and passed.

Vicki and Landus reviewed our chapter ride to Caveman Bar-BQ in
Richland, MO. It was a LONG ride and we dodged storms or most
of it. Alex had to chase down Landus after he passed the turn-off to the
restaurant. The rest of us being hungry, were going to let him go. We
figured he’d see that no one was behind him eventually. : )

Mike Reddell gave a run down of the scenic ride scheduled for tomorrow,

Denise read the minutes from our last meeting
and Cathy read the Treasurers report.

Old business:

Alex requested our chapter registration forms to be updated if need.

Vicki noted that we need to check on our non profit organization status
of which Bob stated he had paid the fees and would look for
proof of payment.

Having 2 positions still open for Ride Captain and Shepherd, Landus
volunteered to take the positions as backup. Motion made,
voted on and passed.

Bob read the letter that was written to the March of Dimes Bikers for
Babes which was sent along with our donation check.

New business:

Debbie Phillips suggested we have some type of fundraiser for
Dustin Hughes who had lost his life in a motorcycle accident.
We’ll contact other groups and see what we can do.

funeral being in Marshall. It was requested for anyone wanting to ride
to the funeral meet at Concepts on Saturday, August 13 at 12:30 p.m.

share. They also brought up Star Chapter 298 possibly getting a banner.
Their pictures included banners from other Star Chapters.

We plan on coming up with membership information packets for Yamaha of
Harrison to pass out to customers when they purchased a bike. Adam with
Yamaha agreed to go along with this.

Adam from Yamaha addressed the Chapter; commending us for the things we
have been doing as a group. He passed out Yamaha Koozi’s to all of us.

Adam said Yamaha of Harrison has been in business since 1976
and requested our help in celebrating the 30th Anniversary, possibly
holding a poker run. We all agreed this would be a great idea.

July 9, 2005

Our July meeting was held at The Frontporch Restaurant in Yellville, Arkansas. We all
arrived at around 7:00 and proceeded inside to find our seats and place our orders. We
had 15 members and two guests, Jada and Roy attending. After we all "finally" received
our meals and ate, Bob brought the meeting to order at 8:20 p.m.

Our secretary Denise read the minutes, which were accepted by Alex and seconded by
Hal. After that our Cathy read the Treasurers report starting with the total from the last
meeting that she was present at, listing deposits from our Biker Budz Boogie and the
current balance. She then listed known bills for our Biker Budz Boogie that would be
paid out of the account. The treasury report was accepted by David and seconded by
Mike Reddell.

Bob thanked everyone for doing a good job at the rally and stated that everyone that
attended seemed to have a good time. Alex commented that the participants of the bike
games had a lot of fun and Bob stated that from the treasurer's report we didn't come out
bad at all.

Our poker run had 9 entries; Bobbie mentioned that several people thought that the poker
run started to early. As a whole we had a lot more to do that the Kimberling City rally
and for our first attempt it all went pretty well. We might need to have the activities
closer together next time as we were a bit stretched out. We were dumped on by a lot of
the vendors that had previously said they would attend. Next year we need to pass out
more flyers and do more promoting like we did at our Kimberling City Poker Run.

Where as we broke even with our rally, Thunder at the Rock missed out breaking even by
around 4000 bikes.

It was mentioned that if we had charged an entrance fee more people would have been
likely to hang around longer. "Jokingly" maybe we need to collect entrance fees at the
bottom of the hill for our next event.

It was a disappointment that we had very little support from our local bikers. Alex
suggested that we visit places where bikes meet one to two weeks before the rally in
order to promote our event. Landus brought up that we might want to consider having a
weekly "bike night" to have more contact with local bikers.

Other suggestions were to arrange the vendors closer together or to start up close as they
sign in and spread them out from there. Maybe starting close to the building since the
vendors all wanted electricity.

>Half of the proceeds from our poker run will be paid to Bikers for Babes March of Dimes
with Treasurer Cathy writing a check to them and Secretary Denise typing a letter to go
with the check explaining what the check is for.

We then listed the proceeds for each event or sale of merchandise at the rally with Vickie
receiving a tip for bike washing which went to he club. Of the proceeds we received we
listed the items that we owed for out of club funds, of those being ice, t-shirts and
trophies. Once everything has been taken care of, we should just about break even.

More discussions on our next event were that we might make the date earlier in the year
and that we check the dates for other rallies that ours might conflict with. Bob will be
getting a calendar from Cool Lion of AR that will list events in Arkansas that should help
in deciding on a date for next year.

We all agreed that it was HOT the day of the rally!!

We all gave a big hand to Mike Reddell for the trashcans and dumpsters that he placed
for use at the rally.

On another note of business being ride information, we have the overnight ride to
Coffeyville, Kansas leaving tomorrow with 4 1/2 bikes going. Those going will miss
everyone that is unable to make it and volunteer to take money and gamble for all those
not going.

July 17 will be the D.A.R.E. ride that will start in Springfield, Missouri and ending up at
the Hub in Marble Falls, Arkansas. There should be 1300 to 1500 riders going through
downtown Harrison at about noon. Of those that would like to go, we will meet at 7:00
a.m. at the Tourist Information Center on Highway 65 North. Everyone can contact Bob to
register early or they can go on-line for the information.

Bob advised that area bike clubs are talking about a ride on September 11 to show unity
amongst the motorcycle community and asked if Star 298 would want to participate by
riding in a poker run as sponsored by other local club or have our own poker run. Alex
motioned to participate in another clubs poker run. We then voted with the vote passing.

Bob will contact the other clubs and advise.

Mike Reddell let everyone know of a ride he was organizing to Walden, Arkansas.
Everyone to meet at 7:00 to 7:15 am at the truck stop and then riding to Krooked Kreek
White Oak Station to join with anyone starting from there and then on to The Cliffhouse
Restaurant for breakfast on the way to Walden. The ride will be around 4 hours one way.

We have also been requested by Jasper to participate in their Christmas parade on the
first Thursday in December with lineup being at 5:30 p.m. and parade starting at 6:00
p.m. Alex motioned to ride in the parade; this was seconded by David and then voted on
by the group with the vote passing. Secretary will add this to our website under Chapter
Events and Scheduled Rides.

Don't forget the Halloween ride. Everyone needs to be thinking about what costume he
or she will be wearing.

Denise had information on Biker Sunday in Rockaway Beach for Sunday, July 10. If
anyone wants to go, please contact Denise for information.

Alex asked if we still want to do the Veterans Ride again this year. Motion to accept was
made by Landus with several members seconding the motion. We voted and the vote
passed. Alex will coordinate with the VA Hospital for a date. David motioned for Alex
to head the committee, which was seconded.

No more ride information at this time.

Bob had announcements to be made the first being that Randal was resigning his position
as Road Captain and for the club to think about whom they might want to replace Randal.
Secretary has the Road Captain patch until a decision has been made.

Bob said that he hasn't been on any club rides this year and apologized stating that the
club needs to be represented by an officer of the club at events. Bob then resigned his
position of President. Alex had been asked if he would step forward for the rest of the
year providing the club agreed. Vote was taken and passed.

Alex commended Bob for doing one hell of a job and thanked him for forming our Star
Chapter 298. With out Bob our chapter would not be what it is today.

Mike Boyd bringing it up, we all agree that our chapter could use more members. Please
if you know anyone that might be interested, ask him or her to join us. Bob has two
gentlemen that he has asked to attend our next meeting. Alex will ask the Yamaha Shop
in Harrison to help if they can.

Anybody that wants to schedule a last minute ride please let the other members know.
Supper rides would be nice for everyone to get together for food and a ride. It would be
good to invite members of other clubs to join in. Maybe have a meet and greets with
other clubs or Star Chapters.

Our guest, Jada asked that we consider having our September meeting at Tim's Place in
Bergman, Arkansas where she worked and could wait on us. Look out Jada!

Our guest Roy won the 50/50 drawing where he donated most of it back to the club.

Next meeting will be August 12 at 7:00 p.m. at the Hub.

Meeting was motioned to adjourn by David and seconded by Bob. Meeting adjourned at
9:44 p.m.

June 10, 2005

Bob brought the meeting to order at 7:50 pm.

Denise read the minutes from our last meeting. Motion to accept minutes and seconded.

It was discussed to return secretary duties back to Denise and voted Dennis as our new Shepherd this was motioned to accept and seconded.

Our treasurer Cathy was not present so Denise read the totals from our last meeting.

Vicki and Alex were not present but Vicki had left estimates for T-shirts for the rally.

We discussed the amount used to pay for the trophies and how much money would be left for T-shirts. We voted on getting however many T-shirts the club could afford with what money we had left. The vote was accepted and seconded.

Bob advised that they have been getting lots of feedback for the rally with the Hub getting good responses and we should have a nice turn out. US 97 have been and will be promoting the event. Sassy from Mt. Home will be here for tattooing. Bob received a call from Carhart clothing and they are sending a 40' trailer to set up. Cat eye Custom from Russellville will be here also.

Games for the event were discussed with everything being about ready. We discussed porta-potties that will be set up in several locations on site.

We will need to keep the right of way open by being roped off and planned a meeting for Sunday, June 12th at 4:00 to see where everything would be set up in the parking lot.

We'll be using radios at the rally so everyone that has them please bring them so we can all keep in touch with what's going on.

Landus passed out maps that he has put together for everyone to check out.

We'll plan on having a guest book for rally attendants to sign.

Release forms for games and rides will be the same ones we used for our Ozark National Guard and Army Reserve Benefit Poker Run. Mike Beard picked up trophies for the bike show n shine and showed them to the club. He'll make up ballets for the show n shine voting.

Announcements will be made from a flat bed trailer to be used for a stage in the parking lot. We'll have first responders and an ambulance on site for the rally.

With our secretary being absent we decided to have our 50/50 drawing at a later date.

Mike Boyd and Landus to meet at the Hub on Sunday for a trial run of the guided tour for anyone that wanted to join.

Vote to adjourn meeting at 8:50 was accepted and seconded.
