August 24, 2008
Bright and early on the morning of Sunday, August 24th, we met on the North side of the Harrison Square at 7:30 a.m. It was a beautiful morning for a ride , altho some(Denise) thought it was a bit to early. LOL
Brenda made her first club ride on her own bike today. She had been practicing and felt ready to try a group ride. So this was an exciting day for all of us !
Ozark Cafe.
When we left Harrison, Lee asked me to "take it easy " for Brenda, so I led us to Jasper at a conservative pace taking the corners a bit less agressive. Arriving at Jasper, Brenda was all smiles. I asked her if she was ok with our pace, her comment was " You could have rode faster " LOL!!
Ponca
After a good breakfast at the Ozark Cafe, we hung out on the square for a bit before deciding which way we were to head back. Our route back led us from Jasper thru Parthenon on some really scenic and rural backroads, out to Highway 16 at Deer. From there we headed west to Highway 21, then south to Ponca. We stopped at the Ponca store for some refreshments before heading on over the mountain to Harrison.
Gaither Mountain
Our last stop was at the lookout on top of Gaither Mountain to say our goodbyes and recap our day. Brenda did very well on her first ride and has gained loads of confidence, we're happy to have her riding "her own" now.
Right on Brenda!!
It was a real nice day shared with great friends. - Landus
