Picnic ride to the
Wolf Pen Recreation Area
on the Mulberry River

June 11, 2006

Members of Star Chapter 298 met at the Travel Center in Harrison
on Sunday morning before riding to the pavilion in Kingston where
we joined Star Chapter 250 from Fayetteville. After a few minutes
of greeting and visiting with each other, everyone got on their bikes
and we rode off together with a total of 13 bikes.

Leaving Kingston we took the Pig Trail to our first stop at the
Turn Bend Station where we had sandwiches made and picked
up picnic supplies. From the station at Turner Bend we rode to
the Wolf Pen Recreation Area, finding a place to relax and enjoy
our lunch. The members of Chapter 250 from Fayetteville brought
a small grill with them and cooked hotdogs.

The last occupants of the campsite where we had our picnic left a
fire smoldering, which our group enjoyed in spite of the day's heat.

Upon leaving Wolf Pen we all rode on to Clarksville. In the valley
where Clarksville is located the temperature was considerably warmer
than it was in the mountains. In Clarksville we stopped for gas and
our two groups split up. Chapter 250 headed back to Fayetteville
and Chapter 298 headed back to Harrison.

At the end of our ride we stopped at the lookout at the top of
Gaither Mountain for a short rest and to say our goodbyes
before we separated and headed home.

It was a hot day but a very enjoyable ride with good friends!
