Four of us started out on Saturday morning at the White Oak
Station on Highway 7 South of Harrison. The original plan for
the day was to ride to Mount Magazine but since there were
only four of us, our route took a slight detour.
We rode south on Highway 7 turning right on Highway 123.
We made our first stop at a station in Hagarville.
From Hagarsville we followed Highway 123 until we turned
right on Highway 103 and started up the mountain. We pulled
off the road and walked to the lookoff at the top of the mountain.
The view from there is beautiful!
After our little excursion we rode north on Highway 103 and turned
onto Highway 215 at Oark. Following Highway 215 until we reached
Highway 23 we turned left and rode to the
Turner Bend General Store
where we had a little lunch before riding back up
Highway 23 towards Highway 16 East.
The Turner Bend General Store makes GREAT sandwiches!
We made another stop at at the Fallsville Onestop and met several other
bikers. We were all visiting and helping them with directions when
the guy running the store came out and threatened to charge us rent for
being parked there. Last time we'll be stopping there!
Moving along we rode Highway 21 North until we
turned onto Highway 43 North heading towards Ponca.
Being a hot afternoon we stopped in Ponca at the
Buffalo River. The water was just to tempting to pass up.
After the girls went for a short swim we left the river
and turned onto Highway 74 West where we rode over Mt. Sherman
on our way to Jasper. At Jasper we took a left onto
Highway 7 South heading back to Harrison.
We made one last stop at the Dairy Diner for ice cream
and waited for a storm in town to blow over.
Alex' ice cream was defective... it melted!
Once we were clear of the rain in Harrison we made our
way home after a very nice ride!
